The soil substratum at Aiud Vineyards consists of marl and clay, and Pleistocene loess sediments are found on the terraced areas of the damb. In the subsoil there are layers derived from landslides and slopes. The soil types are Cambrian cernozomes, argillaceous cernozomes, humus-carbonaceous, regosolic and anthropogenic soils. The gravel in the clay soil and the relatively high limestone contain are favourable elements for grape production.
